Virtual VCR is a simple application that allows you to record easily the video signal from any video capture device, such as Webcams, TV turners and video capture boards, who carry these signals to our PC.
This utility lets you use your PC as video recorder, allowing you to adjust the compression options for the capture of both the audio and video (which determine quality and file size). The image can be captured with different compression levels, from DVD to Web streaming quality, and save it as an AVI file compressed with the selected codec. Virtual VCR works best with a video compression codec to compress the video as it is captured. It is recommended that you use a MJPEG coded as these types of codes are very fast and usually give very good results.
It is compatible with DirectShow filters and effects, captures and stores statistics, has some interesting options, such as the ability to apply filters to sharpen the image, or synchronize audio and video to prevent slippage. With its tuning TV feature, you can record your favorite programs on your computer with an acceptable quality. It also has features that allow you to schedule the recording start and the device.
Although the Virtual VCR interface is extremely simple, its ease of use and performance makes it worthwhile to install.
With Virtual VCR, it is extremely easy to save your favorite TV programs (TV turner board required) and digitalize your VHS or Beta video tapes.
Virtual VCR saves the recorded video in AVI format files. It is compatible with VFW / WDM devices, but WDM drivers work best with Virtual VCR. VFW drivers may work but will more than likely have problems
